چکیده
ماکس وبر و کارل پوپر هر دو باره منطق و روششناسی علوم اجتماعی سخن گفتهاند. شماری از محققان غربی بهمقایسه میان دیدگاههای این دو متفکر در باره روششناسی علوم اجتماعی پرداختهاند. هدف مقاله کنونی ارائه تحلیلی نقادانه از میزان کارآیی دو مدلی است که بهوسیله وبر و پوپر برای بهره گیری از علوم اجتماعی پیشنهاد شده است. شواهدی وجود دارد که نشان میهد پوپر از دیدگاه وبر درباره علوم اجتماعی مطلع بوده است و بنابراین میتوان حدس زد که او مدل خود را با توجه بهکاستیهای مدل وبر به گونه ای تکمیل کرده است که از آن نقایص عاری باشد. استدلال مقاله آن است که مدل پوپر در قیاس با مدل پیشنهادی وبر ابزاری بهمراتب کارآمدتر در اختیار محققان در حوزه علوم اجتماعی قرار میدهد.
